How to Manage a group of Nurse Computers
The purpose here is to get a group of nurses, or wound clinic treatment rooms to each run a Wound Image Program
and to have all the pictures together in a network drive.
It may be that each computer has its own
patients, or the computers can access them equally.
If you are a one-person, or one-computer clinic, then this is not relevant to you, it is interesting only where several nurses work together.
There are two steps involved.
- Setup a shared file Use the explorer 'Map Network Drive' to provide a drive letter eg. 'Z:/' to refer to a folder on the network server or main computer. Use the Setup >> Change Settings >> Set Shared Images Folder option to point to the common folder containing the images. Move the contents of the images folder from the default directory since it requires a couple of patients to be able to start.
- Setup Select Patients to be TRUE. There are two ways to locate a patient, type in the identifying name, or select the patient from a list. In a shared image folder you will need to select the patients by name, since the list refers only to the case where the patients are on a local drive.
The Images folder contains a folder for each patient. The patient folder contains the encrypted images and encrypted notes about the patient or about each image. These files are meaningless outrside a properly logged in Wound Image Program.
